We all had our fingers crossed in the business community, when Prime Minister Trudeau announced his first cabinet shuffle. We applaud him for making some tough calls, moving long standing loyalists out to make way for better suited candidates to deal with President Elect Trump.

We all believed that the PM would see that Minister Chaggar was overloaded with her responsibility as House Leader and would appoint a dedicated minister to Business and Tourism. But alas, we have once again had our hopes dashed.

The Canadian business community needs a dedicated Minister of Business and not one that is shared with a totally unrelated portfolio like Tourism. This country thrives because of business. It’s what creates jobs, trade and drives the economy. Full Stop.

Once again, we urge the Prime Minister, to give business a major place in the Cabinet and appoint a dedicated Minister of Business.
