BRAMPTON, ON. (September 10, 2021) – Leading up to the 2021 federal election, the Region of Peel has identified key priorities that require continued and additional attention from the next federal government to support the needs of Peel’s 1.5 million residents and 735,600 businesses. As one of the hardest hit municipalities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Region continues to seek additional supports for its COVID-19 response, such as Safe Restart funding.
As attention begins to turn to recovery efforts, and with Peel’s population and employment expected to grow to approximately two million residents and 970,000 jobs by 2041, the Region does not have the financial resources to maintain and build the necessary infrastructure and provide the appropriate level of services to support Peel’s growth.
Our collective response to the challenges of the past year have demonstrated the importance of all levels of government working and collaborating together. With the Region increasingly doing ‘more with less’, we are committed to working with the next federal government to meet the needs of Peel’s residents and businesses.
