Workplace hotspot vaccination clinics begin in Peel

Brampton, ON (April 26, 2021) – Peel’s Community Mass Vaccination Plan is expanding to reach more residents in hot spots. As announced last week, in addition to community clinics, hospital clinics, pharmacy locations and pop-up clinics, Tuesday, April 27 marks the introduction of workplace clinics in Peel hotspots. These clinics are the first public-private vaccination partnerships in Ontario.

Selected by the province, the first three workplaces to participate are:

  • Maple Lodge Farms, locations in Brampton and Mississauga, beginning April 27
  • Maple Leaf Foods, locations in Brampton and Mississauga, beginning April 28
  • Amazon, locations in Brampton and Bolton, beginning on May 5

Workplace clinics are expected to administer roughly 7,000 vaccinations in the first three weeks of operation.

The clinics listed above are for employees of each facility only. These same workplaces will also operate local community clinics in partnership with the Region of Peel and community organizations, held at community centres, places of worship or other community hubs. Details for these additional pop-ups are being finalized for dissemination.

Provincial criteria for selecting workplaces includes hot spot location, outbreak data, and willingness of the employer to operate and fund an on-site clinic for their employees and a separate clinic for the community.
