Peter Hall – Exchange Rates During COVID – Help Or Hinderance? – PODCAST

A huge concern during previous booms and busts was foreign exchange. In times gone by, many businesses would base their pricing on exchange rates, making all of their profit based on the spread between the two currencies. These benefits were realized during the 80s and into the 90s. But in 2007 we reached parity with the US and that broke the back of businesses that relied on exchange rates. So, what about now. During COVID, exchange rates see to have been pushed to the back burner. What effect are they having on our economy today? To help us with the discussion is Peter Hall. Peter is the Vice President and Chief Economist for Export Development Canada. With over 30 years of experience in economic analysis and forecasting, Peter is responsible for overseeing EDC’s economic analysis, country risk assessment and corporate research groups.
