MEDIA RELEASE: Mississauga Board of Trade President and CEO David Wojcik Recognized by Ontario Chamber of Commerce with the Burnie Gillespie Memorial Award

Mississauga Board of Trade President and CEO David Wojcik Recognized

by Ontario Chamber of Commerce with the Burnie Gillespie Memorial Award

The Burnie Gillespie Memorial Award is the highest honour for a chamber executive in the province.

 

 (Mississauga, ON – May 4, 2021) – David Wojcik, President and CEO for the Mississauga Board of Trade, was awarded the Burnie Gillespie Memorial Award at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting on Tuesday May 4th, 2021.

The Burnie Gillespie Memorial Award is the highest honour for a chamber executive in the province. This award is presented annually to a chamber of commerce or board of trade manager who brings exceptional leadership to their organization and lives and breathes community service.

“Receiving the coveted Burnie Gillespie Memorial Award from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce is beyond an honour,” said Wojcik. “The dedication and support of the incredible MBOT team, Board of Directors and volunteer members make it possible for our organization to make a contribution worthy of this award.”

“Congratulations to Chamber leader David Wojcik for winning the 2021 Burnie Gillespie Memorial Award at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s AGM & Convention!” said Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.Since the beginning of his role in 2015, David has significantly strengthened relationships with local politicians, amplified the Mississauga Board of Trade’s (MBOT) voice through innovative communication channels and expanded membership participation and benefits. Most recently, David has shown leadership and the ability to pivot in difficult times with the development of the Mississauga Economic Recovery Group (MERG) as well as leading the transformation of MBOT’s virtual professional development, outreach and member information portal. We wish David all the best in his well-deserved retirement!”

Burnie Gillespie was a long-serving board member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.  He devoted his life to volunteering and was an inspiring leader to chamber professionals at the community, provincial, and national levels for over 25 years.
