Who are you and what is your role at MBOT?
I am Sherry Lin, a Chartered Professional Accountant operating my own CPA practice, called LINGIC Professional Corporation (www.lingic.com). I am a proud ambassador of MBOT, an active member of the ambassador committee. My role is to help connect members to members, members to staff and possibly non-members to MBOT. I also schedule emcees for monthly GMM (Good Morning Mississauga), and I co-emcee with fellow ambassadors sometimes.
Tell us about your business.
LINGIC provides accounting, tax and mobile accountant services to businesses and companies. In simple words, owners, managers and shareholders rely on me for advice on best accounting, tax strategies and planning and important business related decisions. I am often referred to fix very messy accounting books and tax problems with CRA for clients.
My mobile service – for a few days a month – I work at clients’ places of business. I respond to their auditors, lawyers or CRA queries, and answer employees’ concerns and other government authority queries, i.e. Ministry of Labour.
How did you hear about MBOT and when did you become a member?
When I started my CPA practice late 2015, I knew I had to market myself and my services to find clients specifically in Peel Region and Toronto West. I became a member in 2017; this will be my fourth year.
What is your favourite aspect of MBOT?
MBOT’s networking events are my favourite. Be it, Membership orientations, GMM, or GEM (Good Evening Mississauga). There are mixed groups of people and professionals from different industries to connect with, hear stories from, and to learn from.
How has MBOT helped you or your business?
The people I’ve met have become resources that I can draw from to help solve some of my clients’ issues. I’ve also been connected and referred to client opportunities.
What would you say to someone who is unsure of joining MBOT?
To me, MBOT has great leadership and supporting staff. It has the right platforms and excellent events for people to connect and to market themselves. By getting involved & volunteering on the ambassador committee, I’ve experienced personal growth and work with other great ambassadors. MBOT works for me so I highly recommend it.
